ICT Systems Specialist Datacenter & SQL Services 100%The Office for Information Technology (AFI) is the IT competence center of the Canton of Zurich. It provides comprehensive services in the area of central IT infrastructure and canton-wide applications for directorates, authorities, the judiciary, and independent institutions. Commissioned with the implementation of the new Information and Communication Technology (ICT) strategy, the Office for Information Technology accompanies and supports the Canton of Zurich into the digital world.
In the large-scale project Platforms and Data Centers (PRZ), we are modernizing the entire IT landscape and transferring over 250 applications into a central, future-proof data center. For this transformation, we are looking for you – an experienced professional who combines technical know-how with coordination, alignment, and management tasks. You feel comfortable diving deep into technical topics as well as keeping an overview, setting priorities, orchestrating interfaces, and actively driving the further development of our platform.
Your tasks:
- In this role, you are responsible for a central database platform with great canton-wide relevance. Your focus is on operation, architecture, provider management, and the further development of the SQL environment.
- Ensuring the stable, secure operation of our extensive SQL landscape
- Operation and further development of MS SQL Server as well as other SQL and NoSQL technologies such as PostgreSQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, and Oracle
- Planning and execution of health checks, performance analyses, patching, and lifecycle management
- Support in recovery/restart processes, security analyses, and performance optimization
- Development of automations (e.g., scripting)
- Participation as a solution architect in the further development of the DB platform and the technology roadmap
- Analysis of customer requirements and development of sustainable technical solutions
- Coordination and management of our outsourcing provider in daily business as well as in projects
- Ensuring 2nd & 3rd level support (internal/external)
- Responsibility for service management according to ITIL (incident, problem, change)
- Ensuring up-to-date operational and system documentation
Your profile:
- Several years of professional experience as an ICT systems specialist or database engineer, ideally with architectural know-how
- Broad experience in the operation and further development of MS SQL Server as well as other SQL/NoSQL technologies
- Experience in collaboration with external service providers
- Strong ability to combine technical topics with management tasks (60:40)
- Structured, solution-oriented working style as well as enjoyment in coordination and communication
- ITIL knowledge (incident, problem, change)
