Skills
- Experience in journalism, preferably at a weekly newspaper.
- Strong grasp of relevant topics and reader needs.
- Proficient in IT and layout programs, open to flexible hours.

About the job

- you take over the position due to retirement and continue the editorial work with commitment and foresight
- you edit journalistic articles, press releases and club reports precisely and stylistically confidently
- you write your own reports, interviews and reports on events, press conferences and research
- you independently layout newspaper pages and bring in your creative flair (ideally with InDesign or similar programs)
- you plan the editorial team, assign tasks and coordinate freelance staff
- you maintain exchange with municipalities, church communities and local institutions and represent the ObZ at events and press conferences
- you take on administrative tasks such as fees, invoicing as well as coordination with subscription service and post
You will succeed here if
- you master the basic journalistic craft and ideally have experience with an advertiser or a weekly newspaper
- you have a strong sense for relevant topics, recognize the needs of our readers and work with accuracy and reliability.
- you identify with Oberbaselbiet or are willing to quickly build a strong network in politics, culture and business
- you show sensitivity in dealing with municipal councils, administrations, SMEs and clubs
- you like to approach people, maintain a friendly appearance and represent the newspaper positively externally
- you are confident in basic IT applications, ideally have experience with layout programs and are willing to work evening or weekend shifts
