The Office for Penal Enforcement of the Department of Security and Justice employs around 260 staff in various professional fields. The Saxerriet Correctional Facility is an open penal institution for men with a total of 135 places. It has differentiated enforcement concepts and a diverse range of workplaces.

Social Worker (m/f/d)
Starting February 1, 2026, or by arrangement

What to expect
Together with the Socialization and Integration team, you are responsible for case management of the inmates:
- You provide relational and material assistance within the framework of various resocialization measures. Planning enforcement steps, clarifying relationship fields, and coordinating reintegration steps are core tasks of your activity.
- You work in a crime-oriented manner within our restorative justice program and coordinate the necessary intervention offers based on the Risk-Oriented Sanction Enforcement (ROS process).
- You are administratively and organizationally responsible for the admission procedure, enforcement planning, reporting, release preparations, etc. of the inmates assigned to you.
- You act as a link to various internal and external services and specialist offices, as well as to the relatives of the prisoners.
What distinguishes you
For this responsible and varied task, you bring the following qualifications:
- You have training in social work (university of applied sciences) or an equivalent qualification and relevant professional experience in the social field. Knowledge of penal enforcement, social insurance law, and/or case management is an advantage.
- You have a positive attitude towards penal enforcement, possess a positive view of humanity, and have no fear of contact with people from other cultural backgrounds.
- You are a communicative and flexible personality who can integrate well into a team and at the same time work independently.
- You can express yourself fluently in German both in writing and orally.
- You are resilient, have a natural authority, and can set boundaries well.
- You have an impeccable reputation and possess a valid category B driving license.
