In the Facility Services Department at ETH Zurich, we create the optimal conditions for teaching, research and technology transfer. We maintain the buildings and ensure the energy and media supply as well as the technical and infrastructural building management of all rooms used by ETH Zurich.

For the Hönggerberg site, we are looking immediately or by arrangement for a Building Technician HVAC (m/f/d) in the HI building area .
Job Description
In this versatile and responsible position, you and your team ensure that all HVAC systems are operated safely, without faults and energy-efficiently.
You plan, prioritise and coordinate maintenance and repair measures, ensuring that all technical systems function reliably at all times. You coordinate external service providers, accompany their on-site deployments, check the quality of the work performed and ensure that agreed maintenance contracts are adhered to.
The planning, procurement and management of spare and reserve materials also fall within your area of responsibility. With your technical expertise, you actively contribute to the continuous optimisation of operations. You analyse processes as well as control and regulation systems, identify potential improvements and independently implement appropriate measures.
When commissioning and accepting new and existing systems, you apply your HVAC expertise purposefully and ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation. During construction projects, you represent the interests of building services, coordinate interfaces, work closely with project teams and participate in construction meetings.
In quality management, you ensure compliance with internal standards, maintain system data in GMIS/Planon and actively promote optimisations. Additionally, you take on on-call duties and shift work tasks, such as opening and closing buildings.
You also play an important role in safety: you ensure personal and operational safety, supervise security areas, respond to alarms, provide first aid in emergencies and support the fire alarm and evacuation teams.
In short: you are a key pillar for smooth, safe and modern building operations. With your expertise, sense of responsibility and holistic view, you make a decisive contribution to the success of operations.
Profile
- At least 5 years of experience in the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of complex building services systems.
- Sound technical knowledge, analytical thinking and the ability to assess and specifically improve processes, control strategies and system behaviour.
- Organisational skills, flexibility and experience in dealing with various stakeholders – from specialists to external partners.
- Careful, structured working style and willingness to systematically maintain and further develop operational and system data.
- Sense of responsibility, reliability and the ability to act calmly and professionally in safety-relevant situations.
- High team spirit, clear and level-appropriate communication, solution-oriented working style and enjoyment of an academically demanding environment.
- Good MS Office and CAFM skills, as well as very good German and good English skills.
