The Experimental Animal Center (EAC) is responsible for all in-vivo research at the University of Bern and takes care of the animals and the infrastructure for conducting animal experiments. The 3Rs (Reduce, Refine, Replace), the "Culture of Care," and compliance with guidelines and regulations are cornerstones of the EAC strategy.
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Quality Manager to strengthen our team and ensure the continued success of our research programs.
The Quality Manager is responsible for monitoring the implementation and maintenance of quality standards within the EAC. The ideal candidate has a solid background in quality assurance and excellent communication skills. Experience with the principles of "Good Laboratory Practice" (GLP) is an additional advantage.
Responsibilities
• Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance programs and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance with legal regulations.
• Conduct regular audits and inspections to verify compliance with quality standards and identify areas for improvement.
• Train and guide staff regarding quality assurance practices.
• Collaborate with study leaders, principal investigators, and facility managers to ensure all research activities meet quality and regulatory requirements.
• Manage and maintain documentation and records related to quality assurance activities, including audit reports, training materials, and SOPs.
• Serve as the primary contact for regulatory authorities and external auditors.
• Stay updated on changes in legal regulations and industry best practices and implement necessary updates to the quality assurance program.
• Promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement within the center.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in a scientific or related field; certification in quality management and a master's degree or higher are advantageous.
• Proven experience in quality assurance.
• Experience with the principles of "Good Laboratory Practice" (GLP) is beneficial.
• Proven management experience in complex structures.
• You are goal-oriented and possess excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and priorities.
• Very good language skills in English; German is an advantage.
