We are looking immediately or by arrangement to complement our growing team with an additional and flexible person for the daily care, supervision, and engagement of our dogs at the teaching and research station of the Vetsuisse Faculty, University of Zurich.
The Vetsuisse Faculty Zurich primarily works at the dog station on new or improved veterinary treatment options for various dog diseases. The findings are often directly applicable in veterinary practice.
The welfare of the dogs is at the center of our work. We keep the dogs in groups, with regular exercise in the garden area. We have an established engagement and training program. All processes follow clear guidelines and instructions that must be followed and documented.
Your tasks
The tasks include the basic animal care of the dogs, including daily care/engagement of the dogs, cleaning/maintenance of the kennels and garden area, support with animal training and ongoing experiments if needed, including detailed documentation work. This unusual position seeks an equally unusual person who would like to develop further in a pioneering operation and contribute to the team. A driver's license and a private car are mandatory, as the dog facility is not accessible by public transport. The station is located in the Zurich/Winterthur airport catchment area in the canton of Zurich.
Your profile
- Completed training as an animal caretaker EFZ or FBA is preferred.
- Physical fitness and resilience
- Reliability and ability to work in a team
- Flexibility to support a small team, as well as careful working methods.
- Willingness to work irregular hours (mandatory weekend shifts).
- Good communication and documentation skills.
- Ideally experience with various animal species and animal training
