EMEA-LATAM Diagnostics covers the largest geographic area for the Roche group, expanding over three continents including Europe, Middle East, Africa and Latin America. It currently carries out business in more than 155 countries, with a legal entity presence in 21 countries and an ODG’s (Operational Divisional Group) in 16 countries.​

Position Summary

The Strategy & Business Model Innovation Chapter will shape and enable the strategic priorities for the EMEA-LATAM region and drive the development of new and different ways of generating revenue in the region.

Main Tasks

The Chapter Lead Strategic Planning & Business Model Innovation will be a key role to help shape and enable the EMEA LATAM strategic plan, provide the regional perspective and input for the divisional strategy, and contribute to the overall Roche Diagnostics vision.

Will serve as the critical link between the Divisional Strategy & partnering team and the region and acts as a trusted strategic partner for the E-L Leadership Team.

As the Chapter Lead, you will lead a team of high performers and senior contributors, who take accountability for the framing , prioritization, development, experimentation and implementation of key strategic innovation topics, such as new business models, disease management pilots , new business channels and collaboration models with internal and external partners.

Guided by the strategic ambitions of EMEA LATAM, you and your team will closely collaborate with chapters and networks and multiple stakeholders to translate and leverage external healthcare market trends into actionable initiatives for sustainable business growth for the region and our business partners.

Primarily focus on the following areas:

Leadership:

  • Ensure the organization systematically and constantly builds and enhances the necessary skills & resources related to chapter scope, required to deliver on its ambition (strategic workforce planning)

  • Ensure Employee Experience in the chapter i.e members have means and opportunity to develop, get the support they need to thrive and perform, and are engaged along organization strategy and chapter priorities

  • Establish the S&BMI operating model & structure, resource & capability planning, E2E project management capabilities, ensure the alignment and operational effectiveness of processes and tools.

Strategic Planning:

  • Lead the responsibilities in enabling and equipping the Roche Diagnostics EMEA LATAM governance bodies (ELLT, SCF, ELLC) with a strategic framework in defining the region’s strategic plan.

  • Orchestrate and oversee strategic activities at the regional and above regional level with regional impact (multi country)

  • Act as the key interface for Global Strategy and Partnering teams and initiatives, Collaborate with Network leads, Chapters leads, CBLs and country leaders as well as inform priority setting for the Diagnostics division in order to deliver on the strategic imperatives and constantly update with market trends , business opportunities and innovation advancements.

Business Model Innovation:

  • Define and enable the performance of a robust project prioritization process for the identification of opportunities based on existing pipeline, innovation and market interest (i.e. strategic and business fit), with clear guardrails defined by SCF and S & BMI (focus for the region).

  • Lead the definition of clear criteria for countries to identify potential opportunities and for the SCF to take the right decisions.

  • Create a systematic and relevant approach focusing on capturing existing innovation from the market and translate that in leads towards Global functions.

  • In scope are also New Business Models for existing portfolio (as example but not limited to new market segments like pharmacies, home testing etc).

There is a strong requirement for Architect leadership, with the skills of a systems thinker, as there are multiple stakeholders and a network organization to navigate, build collective leadership, and gain.

As a Catalyst, the leader will demonstrate courageous authenticity, to both the internal and external stakeholders with the top priority being customer centricity.

As a Coach, demonstrating and fostering collaboration, developing and mentoring not only the team but also the stakeholders; and to help create self awareness & interpersonal intelligence of the collective gain of this operating model for the organization, customer and ultimately the patient.

To be successful in this role, you ideally bring the following background and experiences:

  • Experience as a General Manager for a pharma company

  • Strong business acumen in Diagnostics or Diabetes care and good knowledge of the Healthcare market

  • Experience working in across multiple geographies (APAC/EMEA/LATAM) in an international, multi-cultural and matrix environment in a leadership role

  • Deep commercial expertise

  • Strategic thinking skills and proven track record of developing and delivering business strategies

  • Proven experience of leading change / transformation, negotiating and influencing

  • Strong interpersonal skills with experience in building, leading and coaching teams and mentoring talented employees, and an ability to communicate complex topics in a meaningful compelling way
