The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is the guardian of the Olympic Games and the leader of the Olympic Movement.A truly global organisation, it acts as a catalyst for collaboration between all Olympic stakeholders, including the athletes, the National Olympic Committees (NOCs), the International Sports Federations (IFs), Organising Committees for the Olympic Games, the Worldwide Olympic Partners and Media Rights-Holders. It also works with public and private authorities,including the United Nations and other international organisations.

As the Grant Controlling Specialist you will be responsible for the management of the controls of the use of Olympic Solidarity funds by NOCs and for the NOC financial centre of excellence.

Main responsibilities

Control of the use of Olympic Solidarity funds by National Olympic Committees

  • Management of the programme of the Control of the use of Olympic Solidarity (OS) funds by National Olympic Committees (NOCs), including:
  • coordination with international audit firms performing the controls worldwide at every stage of the control;
  • preparation of a batch of control and selection of NOCs, collection of financial reports, and information to NOCs;
  • collection, archiving and escalation of relevant findings as necessary; and
  • consolidation, analysis and presentation of programme progress and result.
  • Review of controls’ reports from the audit firm, communication of the result to the NOCs, examination of any supplementary financial justifications, reimbursement process of unjustified funds, and identification of areas of improvement within NOCs’ financial management.
  • Responsible for the development and improvement of the monitoring and reporting tool (Master Data) for reporting and decision making, ensure that data is accurate and updated.

NOC Financial Centre of Excellence

  • Externally:
    • Support to NOCs, advocacy and awareness raising in financial management best practices and good financial governance in compliance with the Basic Universal Principles of Good Governance within the Olympic Movement, the Olympic Charter and the OS Financial Guidelines.

    • Assist NOCs in knowledge and capacity building by organizing workshops and meetings, providing specific monitoring (in person and online), developing guidelines and recommendation on financial governance framework and financial policies.​​​​​

  • Internally:
    • Define and update guidelines, procedures and manuals related to the control over the use of OS funds.
    • Improve and update Financial Governance Questionnaire and ensure its alignment with other questionnaires for the NOC.
    • As finance subject matter expert within Olympic Solidarity, provide expertise and support for analysis and decision making for the department.

Special Projects

  • Manage special projects assigned by the Head of Finance and Operations.

Our requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in either business management, economics, finance, controlling, or accounting.

  • Audit / compliance / internal control extensive work experience.

  • In depth knowledge of good financial governance, accounting and internal control.

  • English and Spanish full professional proficiency (excellent oral and writing skill) and French professional working proficiency.

  • Excellent command of Excel and other corporate tools (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint), Power BI is an advantage.

  • Experience in working at an international level in a multicultural environment.

  • Ability to understand and analyse accounting record, financial statements and internal control documentation in detail.

  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment, demonstrate agility and pragmatism.

  • Strong communication skill, with excellent coaching and public presentation skill.

  • Ability to travel abroad

  • Ability to analyse and synthesise vast data, attention to detail.

  • Strict professional ethics; confidentiality and communicating appropriate information.

  • Strong social and diplomacy skill, ability to build and maintain constructive relations with people fron all background and context.
