Compliance Officer - Associate

Do you have a keen interest and demonstrable experience in Anti-Money Laundering with exposure within international regions? If yes, then you have found the right role.

The company's responsibilities related to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) span every business, function and region - and apply to every customer and client of the firm. The AML/Sanctions Consent Order requires that JPMorgan Chase & Co. make specific process and system improvements - on top of more immediate procedural changes - and drive greater consistency in its approach to AML across the company.

Job summary

As a Compliance Officer - Associate within our Anti-Money Laundering team, you will have a strong independent responsibility and demonstrate compliance knowledge in working with both international and domestic clients and products, in addition to large multi-national corporations. This role requires leadership skills, proven investigatory abilities, prioritization skills, and a willingness to tackle new and difficult challenges. You will be expected to interact with AML management, all lines of business, and the firm's Legal, Audit, and Risk departments. This position requires you to exercise sound judgment, and follow high quality standards when conducting investigations.

Job Responsibilities


  • Collect and document data, including alert, investigation, or Suspicious Activity Report history; Know Your Customer information; relevant account and transaction data; plus any other required information to assist the investigation

  • Review and analyze underlying data gathered to assess reasonable cause in order to escalate an alert to Investigations, or to clear the alert

  • Document and fully disposition all alerts, including supporting data, analysis and rationale for disposition, within the case management system in a timely manner

  • Build relationships with AML Investigations units, effectively communicating and transferring information for case investigations

  • Conduct periodic internal account / customer reviews to identify potentially suspicious activity

  • Function as a key contributor and demonstrate knowledge of AML issues as well as broader functional knowledge

  • Participate in individual and department goal development and execute on tactical strategies for goal attainment

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills


  • Investigative experience with exposure within international regions and multinational corporations

  • Excellent command of English, both writtten and spoken, with proven drafting and editing skills

  • Exceptional research and analytical skills

  • Understanding of all lines of business and products. Experience in Private banking will be considered an asset

  • Independent decision maker, able to make time-sensitive assessments and to discuss complex regulatory issues with senior management

  • Understanding of regulatory concepts including, but not limited to AMLA, AMLO-FINMA

  • Able to interface with business counterparts to obtain information related to their client's transaction activity

  • Experience working with internal groups including Legal, Audit, or Risk to ensure consistent understanding of requirements

  • Proven ability to formulate and execute an investigation

  • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook/Word/Excel/Access/PowerPoint)

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills


  • good knowledge of other languages will be considered as an advantage particularly French or German
