Presentation
The Swiss Graduate School of Public Administration at the Faculty of Law, Criminal Justice and Public Administration of the University of Lausanne is seeking a highly motivated and research-driven Ph.D. candidate to join our dynamic team in exploring the intersection of skill formation and social policy. The position is part of a larger project on the governance of vocational training (GOVPET), financed by the Swiss State Secretariat for Research and Innovation (SERI). It offers a unique opportunity to conduct cutting-edge research, contribute to policy discussions, and advance understanding in the field of social policy with a specific emphasis on the role of skill development, certification, and the impact of skill formation policy on social problems and inequality

Contract length : initially 1 year, renewable 2 x 2 years, maximum 5 years

Your responsibilities
The PhD Candidate is expected to develop and complete a doctoral research project on a topic related to the intersection of skill formation and social policies within the GOVPET leading house. The project should have a strong comparative dimension (Europe, OECD countries) and aim to understand recent policy development in the twin fields of skill formation and labour market policy.
Qualifications and Skills
• Master’s degree (obtained or near completion), in political science, sociology or public policy. Ideally with a focus on political economy;
• Good methodological skills, both quantitative and qualitative;
• Fluency in written and spoken English;
• Demonstrated passion for social policy, labour market, education policy, or related fields;
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively;
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
