To support the expansion of our cloud platform and AI-powered applications in the Chinese market, we are looking for an experienced Cloud Engineer with strong expertise in Alibaba Cloud. You will join our interdisciplinary Platform Team and help design, implement, and operate cloud-native services for customers in China while contributing to our broader cloud platform strategy.

This is a hands-on engineering role. We are looking for someone with practical experience running production cloud applications in China and a strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, automation, security, and operational excellence.

As a Cloud Engineer – China Platform Specialist, you will:

• Design, implement, and operate scalable cloud solutions on Alibaba Cloud
• Support the deployment and operation of customer-facing cloud applications in the Chinese market
• Develop and maintain infrastructure as code using modern automation frameworks
• Design and implement secure cloud architectures and operational practices
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for cloud-based applications and platform services
• Collaborate with platform engineers to support future multi-cloud strategies across Alibaba Cloud and AWS
• Contribute to monitoring, logging, observability, and operational excellence initiatives
• Support containerized workloads and cloud-native application architectures
• Act as an internal expert for the Chinese cloud ecosystem and regional cloud requirements
• Work closely with product teams and platform colleagues in a SCRUM-based setup

We’re looking for someone with the following background and mindset:

• Degree in computer science, engineering, or natural sciences
• Hands-on experience developing and operating applications on Alibaba Cloud
• Experience running cloud applications for customers in China
• Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure, networking, and security concepts
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code and cloud automation tools
• Solid understanding of CI/CD practices and automation pipelines
• Experience with container technologies; Kubernetes experience is a strong advantage
• Experience with AWS is a plus
• Familiarity with cloud compliance, reliability, and operational best practices
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
• Fluent English required
• Chinese language skills are highly desirable
• German is a plus
