Area: Gas Sensing & Product Development
Join us in building the next generation of gas sensing.
SensorX Solutions AG is an innovative technology startup at the intersection of optical gas detection, IoT, advanced analytics and software. We develop technologies that enable industry to detect, quantify and reduce gas emissions.
Our current focus is methane emissions, with our FluX Multi platform and a growing family of products for mobile, drone-based and stationary gas monitoring. Our technologies are being tested and deployed with customers and partners across Europe and internationally.
SensorX has received multiple awards and is supported by leading innovation institutions including Innosuisse, FOEN, the Swiss Technology Fund and Eureka/Eurostars. We work with industrial companies, research institutions and technology partners to turn innovative ideas into real products.
We are now entering our next phase of growth and are looking for a hands-on Project Engineer / Technician to join our engineering team.
The Opportunity
You will work directly with our CTO and VP of engineering on the development of innovative gas sensing products and technologies.
This is a role for someone who wants to build things, test things, solve problems and make things work.
You will not spend your time only writing specifications or managing projects from a distance. You will be involved directly in prototyping, testing, troubleshooting, field measurements and product development.
You will work across:
- Optical gas sensing and measurement technologies
- Hardware and electronics development
- Embedded systems and IoT
- Sensor and instrument development
- Data acquisition and processing
- Product testing and validation
- Customer applications and field deployments
- Quality and product development processes
A particular focus will be the development of novel optical gas sensing technologies and products, including SensorX products and OEM gas sensor solutions.
Your Responsibilities:
1.Support and execute hardware and software development projects, with a focus on electrical and electronic development.
- Build, assemble and test prototypes and measurement systems.
- Work with sensors, electronics, data acquisition and embedded systems.
- Integrate optical gas sensors into instruments and IoT systems.
- Perform laboratory measurements, experiments and technical tests.
- Troubleshoot technical problems and find practical solutions.
- Document test results and development activities.
- Contribute to product improvements and new product concepts.
- Involvement throughout the development cycle (Concept → Prototype → Testing → Field Trial → Product).
2.SensorX works with engineering companies, research institutions, universities and technology partners internationally. You will support the technical coordination of external partners, including:
- Preparing technical requirements and test specifications.
- Following up development activities.
- Testing and evaluating delivered components or prototypes.
- Integrating external developments into SensorX products.
- Communicating technical issues and finding solutions together.
3.Our products operate in real industrial environments. You will therefore spend part of your time outside the office and laboratory. The responsibilities include:
- Supporting customer demonstrations and pilot projects.
- Conducting field measurements and product tests.
- Installing and commissioning measurement equipment.
- Troubleshooting systems at customer sites.
- Analyzing measurement data and test results.
- Supporting product repairs and modifications.
- Bringing feedback from the field directly into product development.
This role offers the opportunity to see your work go from the workbench to real-world industrial applications.
4. Help Build SensorX's Quality Processes
As SensorX grows, we are establishing professional and scalable development and quality processes. You will contribute to product documentation and technical records, and the implementation of a practical ISO 9001-compliant quality management system.
Who We Are Looking For:
- A technically curious person who enjoys building, experimenting and solving problems.
- Technical education or degree in engineering, electronics, mechatronics, physics, computer engineering or a related field.
- Ideally 2–5 years of practical experience in engineering, product development, instrumentation, electronics or a similar environment.
- Strong hands-on technical skills.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks.
- Practical problem-solving mindset.
- Good understanding of hardware and electronics.
- Ability and willingness to work integrating hardware and software.
- Good communication skills in an international team.
- Good English; German is an advantage.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for customer projects and field tests.
- A strong advantage
- Experience with optical gas sensing, spectroscopy or TDLAS.
- Experience with gas sensors or analytical/measurement instruments.
- Experience with electronics, embedded systems or IoT.
- Experience with Python, data processing or similar technical software.
- Experience with prototyping, laboratory equipment and measurement systems.
- Experience working with startups or R&D projects.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 or quality processes.
We do not expect you to have all of these skills. More important is your ability and willingness to learn quickly and take on new technical challenges.
The X-Spirit:
This is what matters most. At SensorX, we call it the X-Spirit.
We are looking for someone who:
- Gets things done.
- Has a can-do attitude.
- Takes initiative.
- Thinks outside the box.
- Likes to get their hands dirty.
- Is curious.
- Takes ownership.
- Is pragmatic.
Why SensorX?
Methane emissions are a major environmental challenge. Better measurement is essential to finding and eliminating leaks.
- Your work will contribute directly to developing technologies that make gas infrastructure cleaner, safer and more efficient.
- Work at the technology frontier.
- See your work in the real world.
- Grow with the company.
- Be part of building something.
- Work on technology that matters.
