Export Compliance Engineer
Join our team as an Export Compliance Engineer and combine your engineering expertise with international business, technology, and global trade affairs. You will work at the intersection of innovation, international trade, and regulatory compliance, supporting the worldwide delivery of advanced technologies while ensuring adherence to global export control requirements. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy analyzing technical products and documentation, solving complex challenges, and collaborating with colleagues across engineering, project management, supply chain, and global operations. As part of our Trade Affairs organization, you will help ensure that cutting-edge technologies can be successfully and compliantly deployed around the world.
This is where you'll excel
- You evaluate products, technologies, software, and technical data to determine export control classifications (ECN/ECCN) and licensing requirements
- You review technical drawings, engineering documentation, product specifications, and technology transfers to ensure compliance with international export control regulations
- You perform screenings, risk assessments, and end-use/end-user evaluations while supporting global customer projects from offer to delivery
- You maintain export control records, classifications, licenses, and audit-ready documentation to ensure full regulatory compliance and traceability
- You collaborate with engineering, project management, supply chain, and sales teams while driving process improvements, digitalization initiatives, and stakeholder training
These are the skills you'll need
- University degree in a technical discipline such as Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a comparable field; additional knowledge of international trade or compliance is a plus
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand and assess technical products, systems, drawings, and documentation
- Independent, structured, and detail- and solution-oriented working style combined with strong cross-functional problem-solving capabilities
- High level of responsibility, reliability, and integrity when dealing with complex technical and regulatory topics; experience with export control regulations or SAP GTS is advantageous
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with fluency in English; additional languages are a plus
