Come join the Public Diplomacy team, at the Embassy of the United States to Switzerland and Liechtenstein in Bern, to support our public engagement efforts. We’re seeking a driven, highly motivated Digital Media Coordinator who can juggle changing priorities with ease in a creative and collaborative environment.
Your main duties are the following:
- Responsible for building, maintaining, and creating content for Mission flagship digital properties (social media and website)
- Develop a year-long editorial calendar designed to promote Mission priorities.
- Customize content and online engagement to promote Mission objectives.
- Responsible to produce visual and multimedia elements of Mission public engagement, including design, creation, and/or acquisition of customized visual and multimedia content that is disseminated online.
- Create visual content for all Mission outreach materials by assessing the Swiss media environment, public preferences for visual content formats and dissemination channels, and the impact of Mission visual materials.
- Provide guidance to Mission personnel on standards, regulations, and policies for the use of digital properties.
You have the following soft skills:
- Flexibility to work independently with minimal guidance.
- Ability to rapidly shift gears and adapt to changing priorities and circumstances.
- Capacity to quickly understand tasks and analyze complex issues.
- Confidence in working with people from a variety of backgrounds, including VIPs and high-level government and private sector personnel.
- Strong communication skills, outstanding English skills, both speaking and writing, as well as fluent German, French, or Italian language ability.
- Strong analytic skills to identify target audiences and understand how the Mission’s use of images, graphics, video, and audio can affect audience sensitivities.
You have the following hard skills:
- A university degree in communications, marketing, journalism, graphic design, marketing, political science, or a similar field.
- At least three years of experience in a multilingual, multicultural, or multinational environment with public engagement, including market analysis and/or project management.
- Market research and audience analysis and design and execution of online campaigns must have been significant components of the job.
- Expertise in managing digital properties, including direct online interaction with the public, and content creation, and packaging of visual and multimedia content for digital marketing, advertising, or mass communications purposes.
- Understanding of U.S. foreign policy, as well as a deep knowledge of Swiss politics, media, and culture.
- Ability to use social media, digital, and mobile platforms, graphic design and photo editing software, photo and video sharing sites, and basic photo skills.
