The European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology (EULAR) is a leading organization focused on minimizing the impact of Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Diseases (RMDs) on individuals and society. With a mission to foster excellence in research, education, and patient care, EULAR brings together healthcare professionals, scientists, and patients across Europe. Our vision is a world where RMDs are recognized, diagnosed early, and ultimately prevented or cured. In addition to representation, EULAR also operates services to that end, including a yearly congress with 14 000 in-person participants, a continuing education program with up to 20 000 enrolled students and numerous services to assist researchers, health professionals and patients wherever possible. The organisation consists of the Head-Quarters in Kilchberg with a growing team of 40+ employees as well as up to 1000 active volunteers spread across Europe.
Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and organized IT & Data Architect to join our growing team. The individual in this role will evolve the architecture underlying our major platforms and business applications as well as model and increase utilisation of our data assets using modern technologies including generative AI. In addition, you will lead the implementation of selected digital transformation projects to achieve the derived goals. The ideal candidate will have experience in technical positions, and project management with a strong ability to facilitate collaboration between technical and non-technical stakeholders/suppliers and advocate for data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities

Analyse and improve the IT landscape based on target capabilities set by the IT strategy as well as service quality insights and opportunities identified by yourself.

Take ownership of and expand EULARs Data Analytics Infrastructure for business and research purposes.

Monitor and manage adherence to technical standards and compliance requirements in EULARs over 100 data processing activities.

Support our Head of IT in the ongoing development of strategic goals for the enterprise landscape and work with our CISO and Data Protection Advisor to further improve security and privacy.

Lead projects and coordinate vendors accordingly. Ensure proper integration of newly procured components, specifically through requirements in implementation projects and requests for proposals (RfP).

Occasionally act as a holiday stand-in for our internal IT service and project coordinators.
Your profile
-
ca. 5 years of combined experience in Data-, Software- or IT-Engineering positions as well as ideally technical project management or enterprise architecture.

Experience managing IT Architectures at the million Euro scale.

Motivation to apply modern data-driven practices for EULARs non-profit mission

Enthusiasm to get hands-on where required.

Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects and teams in a structured manner and prioritize tasks effectively.

Technical ability to design and troubleshoot modern software interfaces and processing activities/pipelines.
Beneficial additional experience:

In-depth know-how in data/protection security practices.

Experience with enterprise data Platforms (Snowflake, MS Fabric, etc.).

Experience with behavioural analytics and recommendation systems.

Proficiency with cloud platforms (e.g. Azure)
About the Team
You will be joining a cross-functional team of professionals committed to EULAR’s mission of fostering scientific innovation and improving the lives of those affected by RMDs. You will work closely with our internal departments (education, research, membership, communications) and report directly to the Head of IT.
