Coordinator of the CAS in Quantum Science at D-PHYS, ETH Zurich
The Department of Physics (D-PHYS) at ETH Zurich pursues a diverse research agenda and a broad teaching program. These encompass diverse areas of physics, ranging from the fundamental principles of nature to innovative technologies for society. The Institute of Theoretical Physics (https://itp.phys.ethz.ch/), D-PHYS, ETH Zurich is seeking to hire a Coordinator who will lead the new continuing education program in quantum science. The appointment is expected for a 60 % full-time equivalent.
Project background
The Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Quantum Science at ETH Zurich is designed to provide digital technology experts, engineers, and professionals in banking or government with a strong foundation in quantum science and its emerging applications. Bringing together expertise from across D-PHYS and the ETH Quantum Center, the programme combines high-level academic teaching with insights into foundations and current developments in quantum technologies. The CAS Coordinator will play a central role in the development, launch, and implementation of the programme and will serve as the key interface between the CAS directors, participants, lecturers, the ETH School for Continuing Education (SCE), and other internal and external partners.
Job description
As the Coordinator of CAS in Quantum Science, you will oversee and contribute to the development, launch, and implementation of the CAS in Quantum Science. You will work closely with the CAS directors, D-PHYS professors and study administration, ITP administration and act as the central point of contact for the ETH SCE, as well as with other relevant units at ETH Zurich, including the ETH Quantum Center. Your responsibilities will include coordinating the curriculum and program schedule, supporting the selection and admission of participants, managing communication with participants and lecturers, and overseeing the program’s administration, budget, and implementation. You will also contribute to the program’s communication and marketing activities, support the recruitment of participants, and serve as the central point of contact for the program.
You will be responsible for and contribute to:
- Development, conceptualization and management of the continuing education program (CAS) in Quantum Science and its administration
- Communication and coordination with the lecturers, D-PHYS study secretariat, SCE and the ETH Quantum Center.
- Representation of the CAS and outreach regarding its activities.
- Contacts with internal and external academic and industry parties.
- Coordination of marketing and communication for the program in collaboration with colleagues SCE and D-PHYS.
- Serving as a main contact point for prospective students and organizing the student selection process.
Profile
- Excellent multi-stakeholder project management skills, including the ability to drive and manage different workflows and effectively prioritize your time based on needs, goals and opportunities.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent English language skills, both written and verbal. Proficiency in the German language facilitates interactions with German-speaking administration and prospective participants.
- Prior experience in a similar role with demonstrated success is an asset.
- University degree with a deep understanding of quantum science. Master's degree or PhD in quantum science and technology is an asset.
- Experience and/or interest in concepts and/or implementations of quantum science and technology.
