Associate Director, Project Lead (m/f/d)

The Associate Director, Project Lead (m/f/d) is assigned to one or multiple specific growth investment projects and is responsible for planning, managing and executing investment projects through the complete project pathway (on time, within budget, meeting required quality standards). The role provides leadership to the project team(s), builds and maintains relationships with internal customers, vendors and contractors. This is an engineering discipline role. You will have cross interaction with validation engineers, facility management and operations. You identify and mitigate risks and ensure compliance with regulations and legal requirements

Key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for delivery of project goals in terms of cost, time, functionality, compliance and according to client expectations.

  • Establish project charter including scope of work, goals and deliverables together with the relevant project champion / E2E Lead to support business objectives in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.

  • Clarifying roles and responsibilities within the project organization and developing full-scale project plans and associated communication documents.

  • Securing optimal flow of information within project organization and at interfaces with project champion/project steering committee, and mediating in case of problems.

  • Creating, executing and updating project work plans as appropriate to meet the changing needs and requirements

  • Reporting regularly in writing, including project progress reports. Includes both internal to Lonza stakeholders as well as ensuring external partners if needed are informed/aligned.

  • Establishing the project team and structure necessary to reach the project goals and ensures appropriate coaching/development/performance feedback to all direct reports in order to develop a strong and competent team

  • The role is also responsible for EHS, Quality, Legal aspects in the project and documentation management

    Key requirements:
     

  • Bachelor/Master degree (Engineering, Biotechnology or related science discipline)

  • 8+  years  in  project  engineering  and  project  management  in  design  and  construction  of biological API plants (cGMP manufacturing) with national and/or international experience

  • Experience in managing various engineering disciplines in the chemical pharmaceutical environment, both on clean and black utilities, process, automation, instrumentation and civil engineering

  • Proven experience in cost control and scheduling related to investment projects.

  • Experience in engineering aspects of chemical facility design to build a compliant and cost effective plant.

  • Very strong project delivery experience with volumes of at least 10+ Mio CHF fully managed

  • Business fluent English and German language skills
