This role is part of Alcon's Finance, Accounting, & Audit function, a team that advances Alcon's financial strategy and ensures fiscal responsibility as we transform the eye care industry.
The Senior Associate – Accounting & reporting is a subject‑matter expert within the International COE. The role manages complex inventory accounting and employee‑benefit accounting topics, ensuring high‑quality financial reporting, strong controls, and standardized processes across APL and international entities.
In this role, a typical day will include:
Inventory Accounting & Provision

Manage accounting and reporting of inventory for APL and affiliates.

Manage complex calculations, such as inventory provisions for APAC & Europe region entities within the International CoE team, including reporting quarterly outcomes to region heads

Provide clear variance analysis and monthly reporting (APMR & FCRS).

Review inventory reconciliations, purchase/manufacturing variances, accruals, and provision bookings.

Improve month‑end closing processes: controls, standardization, automation.

Participate and support in various projects related to finance and systems that simplify and improve current processes (inventory transfers, global provision strategic review)

Partner with Global Supply Chain Finance and Operations to resolve issues and align processes.

Maintain accurate schedules, SOPs, and Desktop Procedures.

Liaise with internal and external auditors.

Coach and support junior team members.
HR Accounting (Employee Benefits & Complex Topics)

Support accounting of Payroll, STI, vacation, social charges, and other HR-related accruals across APL, AMSA and International markets.

Support month-end close for HR accounting, including journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, and analysis of fluctuations.

Support projects such as Global Mobility and other HR initiatives.

Address complex accounting topics in collaboration with Technical Accounting.

Participate in HR‑related balance sheet reviews and ensure IFRS compliance.

Provide clear explanations for variances to senior management, with robust analysis of key drivers.

Ensure processes follow global standards, policies, and internal control frameworks.

Resolve HR Accounting issues and ensure alignment with Alcon Accounting Manual, AFCM, SOX 404 and internal controls.
Controls, Compliance & Process Excellence

Ensure compliance with Alcon Accounting Manual, AFCM, SOX 404, global processes and internal control frameworks.

Ensure HR & Inventory Accounting policies and procedures are properly documented, updated and aligned with Group standards.

Meet SLA/KPI targets and support internal/external audits.

Identify and implement improvements to strengthen quality, control, and efficiency.
Collaboration, Leadership & Support

Work closely with AGS& Fribourg R2R teams, Country Finance, HR global COE, Supply Chain Finance, BPA and Technical Accounting.

Provide expert support on accounting topics and reporting requirements.

Coach junior team members when needed and contribute to capability building within the CoE.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:
Education :
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA or professional
certification (CPA, CMA) is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS; familiarity with US GAAP and SOX is a plus.
Experience :
• Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting or reporting experience.
• Audit background is a plus.
• Experience in inventory accounting and HR/Employee Benefits accounting.
• Experience in CH payroll is a plus.
• Experience working in multinational / complex matrix environments.
Technical skills :
• Proficient in SAP and advanced Excel; experience with Alteryx, Power BI or
automation tools is an advantage.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work with large datasets.
• Ability to leverage AI tools such as Copilot to enhance efficiency and insights.
Soft skills:
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, with ability to
deliver high-quality output under tight deadlines.
• Strong organization, prioritization and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
• High ethical standards and commitment to continuous improvement
