Topological Materials at the Nanoscale
Ref. 2025_014
Requirements
We are seeking an enthusiastic postdoctoral researcher to join our topological materials team at IBM Research in Zurich.
Topological conductors include many different materials with exotic transport properties, such as Weyl and Dirac semimetals. The existence of topologically protected surface in these materials entails low-dissipation electronic transport, with highly promising potential applications for state-of-the-art CMOS technology and other applications. In this context, we are looking for expertise in either of two areas:
- Molecular beam epitaxy, with an interest in developing thin-film deposition of topological semimetals using our in-house tools
- Physics and transport of topological semimetals, with a background in experimental methods and hands-on experience with these materials
It is sufficient that the candidate has experience with only one of these areas. The work will be a part of a large European project, with many exciting opportunities for international collaboration. The successful applicant will be part of our Quantum and Information Technologies Team comprising world-leading experts in nanoscience and nanotechnology, and can benefit from leading-edge infrastructure and enjoy work with collaborative and creative groups in an international research environment at the IBM Zurich laboratory.
Qualifications
- A PhD degree relevant to the topics outlined above
- Very good communication and English language skills
- Driven and motivated to explore new frontiers in science and technology
Diversity
IBM is committed to diversity at the workplace. With us you will find an open, multicultural environment. Excellent flexible working arrangements enable all genders to strike the desired balance between their professional development and their personal lives.
