Thomaz Teodorovicz holds an Associate Professorship Chair in Strategic Management at the University of St.Gallen. His research examines when and how the leaders of private and public organizations can pursue superior performance while providing solutions to pressing societal challenges. Prior to joining the University of St.Gallen, he was a postdoctoral researcher at Harvard Business School, and held the CBS Executive Fonden Chair at the Copenhagen Business School. He has also held visiting appointments at INSEAD, SDA Bocconi, HEC Paris, and the Geneva Research Lab for Digital Impact. Thomaz Teodorovicz received his PhD in Business Economics from the Insper Institute of Education and Research.
His research examines how organizational governance, strategic choices, and human capital shape both organizational performance and societal outcomes. His work spans public and private organizations, state-owned enterprises, public services, employment arrangements, and public-private collaborations. His work has been published in leading international journals, including Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, and the Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal. His practitioner- and policy-oriented publications include contributions to the Inter-American Development Bank, Brookings Institution, and Harvard Business Review.

Tasks:
- Enroll in the PhD program of the School of Management at the University of St.Gallen, working under the supervision of Prof. Thomaz Teodorovicz.
- Conduct high-quality academic research in the field of Strategic Management – on topics related to strategic management for the public interest, comparative governance, alignment between commercial and social goals, and future-of-work.
- Connect and engage in collaboration with non-academic organizations (e.g., firms, non-profits, multilateral organizations, etc.)
- Develop research projects in collaboration with Professor Thomaz Teodorovicz and independently, with the goal to publish in leading international academic journals.
- Present research findings at international conferences, seminars, and workshops.
- Provide organizational support related to the Chair's research and teaching activities (assistance in courses; supervision of Bachelor/Master thesis).
- Contribute to the intellectual life of the School of Management at the University of St. Gallen and the broader academic community.
- A completed Master's degree in Management, Economics, or a closely related discipline from a reputable university or business school.
- Strong academic performance and a demonstrated interest in pursuing either an academic research career, or a private-sector career supported by research insights.
- A clear interest in Strategic Management, and on the intersection between private-sector action, social impact, and technology.
- Knowledge of statistics (e.g., quantitative methods, causal inference) and high willingness to engage in multi-method research (e.g., interviews with key stakeholders).
- Experience with statistical or analytical software such as Stata, R, Python, or similar tools is an advantage.
- Excellent written and spoken English. Knowledge of German is *not* a requirement, but an advantage.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and an interest in working with students.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a research team.
- Intellectual curiosity, initiative, reliability, self-organization, and attentive to details.
