Formed in 1921, the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) is the governing body for all international events in Jumping, Dressage and Para Dressage, Eventing, Driving and Para Driving, Endurance and Vaulting. It establishes the regulations and approves equestrian programmes for Championships, Continental and Regional Games as well as the Olympic & Paralympic Games.

FEI promotes equestrianism in all its forms and encourages the development of the FEI equestrian disciplines throughout the world, keeping the welfare of the horse at the heart of all activities.

Today, the FEI has more than 130 members of National Federations and there are over 4,500 international events annually, including a number of FEI Championships and global FEI series. Over 120,000 athletes and horses are registered and women and men compete as equals.

Over 100 FEI staff are working in FEI’s Headquarters in Lausanne, ensuring the sport continues to grow and flourish, the rules are enforced, the results are processed, the international calendar is managed, and that the very values that are at the core of equestrian sport are safeguarded and promoted.

The FEI is looking for a full-time Manager for in its Dressage, Para-Dressage & Vaulting Department. The position is based in Lausanne and is available from 3 June.

Vaulting and Para Sports Manager

Purpose of the Role

Reporting directly to the Director of the Department, the retained candidate will manage and provide all the general processes applicable to the specific disciplines under the Manager’s responsibility which includes all matters related to Vaulting and Para Dressage Sports, servicing key stakeholders including NFs, OCs, Athletes and Officials. They will prepare Committee meetings and minutes, coordinate the Rule revision process, supervise the approval process for Draft Schedules and related follow up, provide administrative support to the Vaulting and Para Dressage Director and to represent him in his absence.

The candidate will work together with other FEI Departments on a regular basis as well as communicate with external stakeholders such as National Federations, FEI Officials for the relevant disciplines.

As part of your main responsibilities, you will also assist the Department Director in various administrative matters.

Key Responsibilities

Support and assistance

  • Carry out administrative tasks related to the sport disciplines.

Coordination of the sport

  • Process, follow up and manage competitions and all draft schedules for Para Dressage and Vaulting for FEI approval, liaise with National Federations (from draft schedules to results);
  • Create events in the FEI database, upload approved schedules, add all officials and all competition details and results in the database;
  • Complete all post competition follow up for both Para dressage and Vaulting;
  • Update draft schedules and other general documents annually based on approved Rule changes and other decisions;
  • Process Yellow Warning Cards and Rule infringements (follow up and update of the FEI Website) and liaise with the FEI Legal Department;
  • Update of the FEI Website within the key responsibilities related to all Para Dressage and Vaulting Sport matters;
  • Manage the inventory of FEI Medals for FEI Championships (Order, quality control, delivery);
  • Check all MERs for Championships and Games and process the entries (nominated and Definite); and
  • Review and update the discipline calendar before approval at the end of the year.

Follow-up Para Dressage and Vaulting shows

  • Process and manage competitions’ results, rankings and post competition follow-up;
  • Upload all results and process and manage missing entries in relation to validated results including information on unregistered horses, disqualifications etc; and
  • FEI Vaulting World Cup Final, check qualification criteria and MER’s, invite qualified Athletes through their NFs as per the discipline rules.

Organisation

  • Organise, coordinate and follow-up of seminars related to the sport discipline when required;
  • Organise sports committee meetings, prepare minutes and follow-up;
  • Oversee travel arrangements for committee members;
  • Update and edit all relevant information on the website (department news, sport specific updates);
  • Communication and support with all the different sports stakeholders;
  • Liaise with all stakeholders regarding the sports Rules revision process, competition series and prepare relevant documentation and system updates;
  • Liaise with Technical committees, prepare the agendas of the meetings, supporting documentation, annexes and follow up; and
  • Prepare statistics for annual reports, website and other publications.

Classification

  • Process and manage all requests received for classification of Athletes and liaise with the FEI Classifiers; and
  • Coordinate and support the Classification working Group regarding all issues related to classification.

Vaulting and Para Sports Department

  • Represent and respond on behalf of the Director in his absence;
  • Respond to requests for information from other Departments, external stakeholders and general public;
  • Communicate information on various issues to the Department; and
  • Miscellaneous correspondence on behalf of Department Director.

Position Requirements

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Fluent in English (level C1), spoken French is a plus
  • Minimum of 5 years professional experience required
  • Rigorous, meticulous with attention to detail
  • Positive interpersonal skills with a strong service mindset
  • Ability to work well within a team, under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Experience and knowledge of equestrian sport
