Tenure Track Assistant Professorship in Veterinary Physiology with a focus on either Musculoskeletal Physiology or Cardiovascular Physiology

The Institute of Veterinary Physiology is an institute within the Vetsuisse Faculty of the University of Zurich, with a current focus on understanding the body's response to hypoxia and neurophysiology. The University of Zurich offers an excellent academic environment with opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration with groups at the University, the University Hospitals, and the nearby ETH Zurich.

The Vetsuisse Faculty of the University of Zurich invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor position in "Veterinary Physiology" with a focus on either "Musculoskeletal Physiology" or "Cardiovascular Physiology". The aim is to complement the current strengths in physiological research in Zurich and the sister Faculty at the University of Bern in the physiology of reproduction and lactation in farm animals. The willingness to work in a highly open and collaborative environment is essential.

Tenure Track Assistant Professorship in Veterinary Physiology with a focus on either Musculoskeletal Physiology or Cardiovascular Physiology

The newly appointed Assistant Professor will foster a visionary research program focused on veterinary cardiovascular or musculoskeletal physiology, using cutting-edge methods that enable a molecular analysis of physiological processes, including technological innovations such as "single cell analysis" and "spatially resolved omics analysis within a tissue". The research line should also include relevant animal models with implications for human physiology. The integration of immunological aspects would be an asset in advancing and complementing these research efforts. The professor will be expected to teach at the bachelor's and master's levels.

Successful candidates must preferably hold a DVM or MD, PhD, or equivalent degree and have an excellent track record of academic achievement as a basis for successful extramural funding. We are looking for a visionary individual with a strong research program, a broad network, interdisciplinary research experience, and extensive expertise in cardiovascular or musculoskeletal physiology. Candidates should have the ability to conduct teaching in the German language or the willingness to acquire any necessary, potentially lacking knowledge of the German language for conducting teaching and for scientific communication within three years.

The University of Zurich is an equal opportunities employer and is committed to increasing the proportion of women in leadership positions. Qualified female researchers are, therefore, particularly encouraged to apply. The University of Zurich sees researchers as modern leaders who conduct excellent research in their research projects – taking into account the principles of open science –, who develop and promote outstanding young researchers, and who help to shape a forward-looking university with innovative research-based teaching to meet the social challenges of the future.
