We're searching for a highly experienced Chief Legal Officer (CLO) to build and lead our legal team. As CLO, you will play a vital role in shaping our legal strategy, ensuring compliance, managing risk, and advising our executive team. This is a strategic position with the opportunity to directly influence key decisions while protecting the company's legal interests.
Areas of responsibility
- Oversee all legal aspects of the company, including governance, compliance, and regulatory matters.
- Partner with HR on staffing matters, including employee disputes, investigations, restructuring, and contracts.
- Provide expert legal counsel to the executive leadership team.
- Collaborate closely with various business units.
- Provide legal support for lobbying, intellectual property, operations, partnerships, and programs.
- Lead and manage the legal department, including external counsel.
- Ensure compliance with Swiss and international laws.
- Negotiate, draft, and review contracts and other legal documents.
- Manage litigation, disputes, and risk mitigation.
- Stay informed about changes in relevant legislation and regulations, particularly those impacting our business.
- Analyze and advise on risks associated with company initiatives and strategic goals.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school and eligibility to practice in the United States (Texas preferred).
- 15+ years of experience in legal practice, with at least 10 years in-house experience in a leadership role.
- Experience in US legislative processes, including direct communication and lobbying with legislative bodies.
- Expertise in corporate law, contract law, compliance, and regulatory matters.
- Strong understanding of US law, Swiss law, and international business practices.
- Deep knowledge of FinTech implementation.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Proven experience in investment fundraising for entrepreneurial development.
- Proven track record of managing corporate legal teams and advising C-level executives.
- Startup experience, including at least two companies that achieved a valuation of USD 5 million or more.
- Experience overseeing HR compliance for a company with 25+ employees, including corporate wellness and benefits design and implementation.
- Fluency in English, Spanish, and French, with proficiency in German.
- The candidate must be US qualified.
