Gemeinde Merlach

The municipality of Meyriez/Merlach has around 580 residents and is located in the Lake District of the Canton of Fribourg. With both a French and a German name, the municipality reflects its unique location at one of Switzerland’s cultural and linguistic crossroads, combining the advantages of both language regions. Its privileged location directly on the shores of Lake Murten, with views of Mont Vully and the Jura, as well as its excellent geographical position between Lausanne, Neuchâtel, Biel/Bienne, Bern and Fribourg, contribute to the municipality’s high quality of life. The historic town of Murten is also situated in the immediate vicinity and is easily accessible on foot. One of the municipality’s most distinctive locations is the Campagne Chatoney. This municipally owned property with direct access to the lake combines historic buildings with spacious parkland and a remarkable collection of mature trees. A swimming jetty, barbecue area and children’s playground complement the facilities. The Campagne Chatoney therefore provides an attractive setting for private and business events while also serving as an important place for recreation and community life.
