The Position

Bring Building Automation System standards to the next level

As an intern in building automation, you will have the opportunity to delve into the world of smart buildings and cutting-edge technology. You will work alongside industry experts, designing systems that optimize energy efficiency, implement latest cybersecurity measures, and streamline operations through the integration of various systems.

This position strives to continue to drive the commenced standardization efforts in the company.

The internship candidate will build upon the current initiatives including IT network design, specifications development and commissioning strategies.

Based on interest and development, this position gives the opportunity to take ownership for various topics and tasks. The main areas include, but are not limited to:

  • Building and utilizing a test environment for integration of building automation into a new overlying IT infrastructure based on event driven architecture.
  • Developing a qualification and commissioning strategy for monitoring and building automation systems to shorten build times and save resources
  • Energy and sustainability measurements standardization, collecting existing data in a common database and running analyses for further optimization measures.

The internship candidate will be assigned a variety of tasks relevant to the assigned function and/or special projects for the assigned function. The intent of assignments is for the intern to practically apply academic or vocational studies/learning in a Roche setting, as well as learn more about the Roche organization, as future employment with Roche may be a possibility subject to job availability, candidate qualification and past performance.

Assignments vary but are typically to support the activities of regular employees, such as entry-level research and reporting, analyses and modeling, preparing materials for others, coordinating small events or meetings, or improving basic departmental business operations. Length of internship will vary according to business needs and legal requirements in the market where the internship is occurring.

Global MSAT & Engineering (PTT) is responsible for ensuring that PT stays at the forefront of technology in our facilities and supports our robust processes & efficient operations. Our focus is integrating product health, process health with equipment fit for purpose and facility readiness in support of the manufacturing network.

You will report to your advisor within the business function. The ideal candidate is a self-starter deeply curious and energized by learning. You should be comfortable with working through ambiguity and are able to prioritize and manage multiple demands and commitments.

In your role, you will collaborate with a cross functional team of leaders, experts from business as well as technical functions, both on a global as well as local site level. These roles span from site engineering, safety, sustainability, through quality assurance to IT architects and product owners.

Key Responsibilities/Tasks

  • Spearhead and/or participate in workstream initiatives
  • Facilitate workshops / team break-out sessions
  • Create and manage data repositories / communication channels
  • Define and design standards and guidelines
  • Implement automation solutions in testing environment

Qualifications You have a background in life, computer, or engineering sciences and are keen on following and learning the latest technology trends. You are not afraid to challenge the status quo to bring improvements and innovation into the organization. In addition, you are able to work cross-functionally and connect different disciplines in pursuit of excellence.

Education

  • You are enrolled or you graduated as a Bachelor- or a Master Student within 1 year at the university
  • Pursuing a degree in Life Science / Computer Science / Engineering or related

Experience

  • Proficiency with Office and other collaboration / productivity tools
  • Basic understanding of network technology
  • Complex problem analysis
  • Cross-cultural experience, a plus
  • Knowledge of PLC programming advantageous
