Your role

As Stewardship Analyst at Bank J. Safra Sarasin you are joining our leading Sustainability team to develop and deliver Stewardship activities (analysis, engagement and proxy voting). Reporting into the Head of Stewardship, you will be working with equity and fixed income portfolio managers and fundamental analysts in a stimulating, international and collaborative environment and provide key ESG analysis and support to the asset management division of the Bank.

Your responsibilities

  • Supportthe ongoing ESG governance of existing flagship funds and conduct new ESG sector analysis
  • Lead and support engagements (both directly and collaboratively) with corporate issuers on strategic ESG issues
  • Responsible for developing thematic engagement topics such as, strategic metals, human rights, etc.
  • Participate in proxy voting activities, through identification and analysis of critical general meetings in support of fundamental equity analysts and in line with BJSS AM voting policy and ESG sector analysis
  • Identify emerging topics and best practices in proxy voting and corporate governance and communicate to colleagues
  • Support fundamental analysts, ESG analysts and portfolio managers as they engage with company management teams and board members on material issues
  • Maintain engagement records and contribute to RfPs, proxy voting reports for clients and annual reviews
  • Support in all administrative and operations aspects of proxy voting activities (including analysis, research, presentation, etc.

Your profile

  • Higher education (university / FH) IT or
    equivalent relevant experience
  • 3 to 5 years of practical experience in
    proxy voting, corporate governance and engagement
  • Self-motivated individual who works well
    independently and is successful in working collaboratively with senior
    stakeholders
  • Effective writing skills to support
    recording of voting and engagement activity on internal systems as well as
    identification of meaningful and relevant examples for inclusion in reporting
    materials
  • Communicating effectively and demonstrating
    strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to collaborate with users at all
    levels of the business will be important to succeed
  • Exceptional organisational skills, with the
    ability to multi-task under pressure and delivering within expected deadlines
  • Fluency in English and German (please note
    only applicants who are fluent in German may be considered), French considered
    an additional asset
  • Completion of ESG-focused credential or
    certificate program is preferred (e.g., SASB FSA, CFA ESG Certificate, PRI
    Academy, etc.)
