About the role
As a Software Engineer you will have a unique and exciting opportunity to join a young and dynamic company, committed to delivering value added services in the investment product space.
You will be part of the IT Development department, responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining key business applications and services on our highly-specialized investment product management platform. Thanks to a fluid and concentrated organization, frequent communication with end-users and internal training on the investment product domain you will provide concrete and robust technology solutions to our clients, partners and users. As part of the Pension Savings Development team, you will specifically contribute to rapid growth of the business line.
As part of the Pension Savings Software Engineering team, you will specifically contribute to a key Leonteq business unit managing the processing, trading and hedging of long-maturity Pension Savings Products through a modern IT platform.
What you'll do
- Work closely with business and other IT units to gather and understand requirements, specify solutions and estimate efforts
- Contribute to software and architectural design decisions
- Contribute to a robust automated test suite to work in a continuous integration / continuous deployment environment
- Implement changes to address business needs and keep the platform technically up to date
- Teck stack: Micro-services written in Scala 3, Communication between services with protocol buffers and gRPC, Developed for and deployed to Google Cloud: Cloud Run, Cloud Storage, Firestore, PubSub, Cloud Build, Infrastructure as code in Terraform
What you'll need
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science or similar
- Business fluency in English
- Ability to work in a geographically distributed team, contributing to team discussions, taking pride and ownership
- Interest in the latest programming trends such as functional and reactive programming
- Strong problem-solving skills & ability to learn in a fast-paced environment
- Interest in and learning about the business domain of investment products
Nice to have
- Professional experience in the financial industry
- Experience building scalable, distributed applications in Scala, Java, C#, Python, or similar language(s)
- Experience in implementation of APIs for integration with internal and external systems
- Practical experience with Google Cloud Platform, or another large cloud platform (AWS, Azure)
- Experience in Scala programming (cats, cats-effect, fs2),
- Experience with functional programming, with infrastructure-as-code, e.g. in Terraform and protocol buffers and gRPC
