The Space Research and Planetary Sciences Division of the University of Bern (UBE) has been granted funding to lead the development of two payloads for the upcoming ESA F-Class mission "Comet Interceptor".
UBE is contributing a high-resolution camera system, the Comet Camera (CoCa), and a neutral gas mass spectrometer, the Mass Analyzer for Neutrals in a Coma (MANiaC), to the mission. The launch is planned for 2029.

* Support hardware qualification activities that are under the responsibiliy of UBE
* Lead Test Readiness Reviews (TRR), Test Review Boards (TRB) and Delivery Review Boards (DRB)
* Lead Integration Readiness Reviews (IRR)
* Perform and document incoming/outgoing inspections at all levels
* Coordinate and monitor the Product Assurance and Quality Assurance activities for sub-systems developed by our international partners and Swiss industry
* Produce and/or verify appropriate documentation (e.g. DMPL, CIDL, EIDP etc.) according to ECSS standards (with the support of our international and industrial partners)
* Supervise and maintain the UBE internal configuration control
* Supervise and maintain the UBE internal traceability system
* Track hardware non-conformances and lead or actively participate to review boards
* Oversee selection and procurement of EEE and mechanical parts

For this position, a degree in aerospace/mechanical/electrical/systems engineerering or associated fields is required. A sound track record in product/quality assurance is also required. Prior experience in space projects and knowledge of the ECSS standard would be a strong advantage.

Proficiency of spoken and written English is required. Knowledge of German would be an advantage but is not requried.

The position is based on-site at the University of Bern, Sidlerstrasse 5, CH-3012 Bern, and is available immediately for an initial period of three years.
The salary range is determined in accordance with the personnel regulations of the Canton of Bern.
