Scientific Employee Vegetation Ecology 60% (m/f/d)
The Biodiversity & Conservation Biology research unit studies the diversity of life in its various forms, from genetic diversity to species and ecosystem diversity and their interactions. It provides the basis for evidence-based nature conservation. The Habitat Dynamics group is looking for a scientific employee from June 1, 2026 on a fixed-term basis for 2 years (with the option of extension).
The Biotope Protection Switzerland Monitoring (WBS) is a long-term monitoring program that examines how biotopes of national importance (dry meadows and pastures, mires, floodplains) develop. Especially within the framework of the WBS, but also in other projects of the Habitat Dynamics group, large amounts of vegetation data are collected. In this position, you will be responsible for vegetation surveys and their preparation, professional moss identification in the laboratory, data analysis, and publication of results. In addition, you will assist with reporting to clients (FOEN, cantons) and acquiring third-party funding.
You have a master's degree in biology or environmental sciences. You have excellent knowledge of native vascular plants and mosses as well as their ecology, and you have experience in collecting vegetation data (vascular plants, mosses) in various habitats in Switzerland. Furthermore, you have experience publishing scientific articles as well as implementation articles. You work independently, are communicative, and a team player.
