Job Description
Reporting to the Head Waiter in charge and his assistants, the essential responsibilities and functions of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Consistently providing professional, friendly, and pleasant service
- Ensuring before each service the presentation of the teams according to Fairmont standards and the proper setup of the restaurant
- Welcoming guests according to Fairmont Hotels & Resorts standards
- Supervising service in a section composed of Commis and Station Chiefs
- Controlling inventory and daily requisitions
- Ensuring good communication between the Head Waiter and the team
- Having a thorough knowledge of the various dishes, aperitifs, and wines served in the restaurant
- Guiding the customer towards the suggestions and dishes proposed daily by the Chef
- Ensuring optimal customer satisfaction by providing the most courteous service and ensuring the use of the customer’s name
- Managing reservations with the hostesses (flow, table distribution, etc.) during service (regular communication on availability and customer expectations)
- Constantly seeking to improve the product and make the service more efficient
- Immediately reporting any malfunction of the work environment or equipment
- Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
- Previous experience is an asset
- Minimum of three years experience in catering
- Fluency in French and English, good knowledge of Italian
- Knowledge of Micros, Microsoft is a plus
- Very good presentation
- Ability to work in a team
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to focus attention on customer needs while remaining calm and courteous at all times
- Leadership skills
