Your role and responsibility:
ABB is seeking an experienced Production Engineering Manager to lead our production engineering initiatives and drive operational excellence. You oversee process improvements, manufacturing strategies, and cross-functional teams to ensure optimal productivity and quality.
In this role, you have the opportunity to lead a function focused on optimising the assembly methods, processes, and equipment of the production organisation. Every day, you ensure that the production process aligns with the objectives, approve the design – both for internally and externally developed processes – and conduct the final test according to requirements. You also demonstrate your expertise by ensuring the efficiency of all external production processes.
The working model for the role is hybrid with a strong connection to on-site activities in Schaffhausen and the associated production sites within the product line of the manufacturing area.
This role contributes to the Critical Power Product Line in Schaffhausen.
You are mainly responsible for:
Leadership and team management: Leading the production engineering team to achieve operational goals and KPIs, providing appropriate resources to ensure equipment selection, installation and commissioning, mentoring and developing engineering staff to create high-performing teams
Manufacturing strategies and process improvements: Developing and implementing manufacturing strategies and process improvements, including new technologies and partners to define the best option, managing investment projects related to production processes, equipment, and industrialisation of new products
Health, safety, and environmental regulations: Ensuring compliance with all relevant policies and standards, collaborating with internal and external functions/partners to develop a safe, smart, and highly efficient production environment
Collaboration and operational excellence: Collaborating with key functions across multiple production sites to optimise production workflows as well as to further develop and optimise the manufacturing footprint, promoting continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma methods, analysing production data and implementing data-driven solutions at various sites

Qualifications for the role (mandatory)
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent)
At least 8 years of experience in production engineering or manufacturing management
Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment
In-depth knowledge of production processes, equipment, and automation systems
Strong communication and interpersonal skills combined with high intercultural competence
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methods
