The task of the courts and other judicial authorities is independent adjudication. They decide disputes between parties as well as between private individuals and the state. As an employer, we offer responsible, varied and demanding positions.
The Cantonal Court is the court of first instance in civil and criminal matters in the Canton of Schaffhausen. It currently comprises six judges and at least three substitute members. The electing authority is the Cantonal Council.

What to expect- Case management and conduct of hearings as a single judge in family law proceedings
- Collaboration with court clerks in the instruction of proceedings
- Judicial participation in the civil and/or criminal chambers
What you bring
- The position requires a professionally well-qualified, efficient and team-oriented personality. A lawyer’s licence and several years of court and/or legal practice are required.
- You have negotiation skills and assertiveness, are resilient, independent, open to criticism and decisive.
- Prerequisites are an impeccable reputation, Swiss citizenship and residence in the Canton of Schaffhausen from the start of office.

- The remuneration is based on the decree on the remuneration of judges.
- The electing authority is the Cantonal Council. The election is for the remainder of the term 2025-2028.
