Senior Physician in Paediatric Intensive & Intermediate Care
The Paediatric Intensive and Intermediate Care Units are seeking a senior physician (80%-100%) to strengthen their senior medical team (for a fixed or indefinite term depending on the profile.)
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine (FBM) of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.
The Paediatrics Department, attached to the Woman-Mother-Child Department, is responsible for hospital and outpatient care of patients aged 0 to 18 years. A true "hospital within a hospital," the Department includes several hospital units, notably intensive and intermediate care, as well as emergency services and all paediatric specialties. The interaction between units and with the neonatology and paediatric surgery services makes this position an opportunity for multidisciplinary work and care of patients with fascinating diversity.
You will join a versatile paediatric intensive care, intensive care (12 beds), and intermediate care (10 beds) structure:
- Paediatric resuscitation and intensive care
- Paediatric intermediate care
The patients cared for range from full-term newborns to adolescents (0-18 years), in a highly specialised environment. The service notably hosts significant activity in congenital cardiac surgery, transplantation, cardiac assistance, specialised airway surgery, as well as a reference centre for burned children. All paediatric specialties are represented, except for liver, lung, and bone marrow transplantation.
Mission
- You ensure the clinical care of patients hospitalised in the paediatric resuscitation-intensive care and intermediate care units
- You actively participate in senior on-call duties, including resuscitation activities
- You collaborate closely with neonatology, adult intensive care, surgery, anaesthesiology teams, as well as numerous paediatric specialists
- You contribute to the supervision of assistant and senior registrars, the development of clinical practices, and continuing education activities.
Profile
- You hold a medical degree (MD) or MD-PhD
- You hold a specialist diploma in paediatrics recognised by the ISFM or have an equivalence recognised by MEBEKO
- You hold a specialist diploma in intensive care medicine recognised by the ISFM or have an equivalence recognised by MEBEKO
- You have postgraduate experience in paediatric resuscitation and intensive care
- You possess strong clinical skills in the management of critical patients
- You enjoy teamwork and work comfortably in a complex multidisciplinary environment
- You are proficient in French, the working language, at a minimum C1 level
- You have knowledge of other languages, which is an asset.
We offer
- A stimulating activity in a university reference centre
- Modern equipment, an interdisciplinary environment, and a culture of continuous training, notably in simulation
- Supportive and dynamic supervision, with opportunities for professional development
- Continuing education.

- A 13th salary and 25 days of holiday per year
- A right to a minimum of three training days per year, with access to a varied offer within the CHUV Training Centre and partner training centres of the Canton of Vaud
