About the job
The "Enterprise Services" team belongs to the "IT Service Management" division within the IT department of the University of St.Gallen (HSG). It operates Microsoft 365 and the enterprise workflow platform ServiceNow for teaching, research, and administration. Within the framework of the Rectorate's AI strategy, the security and usefulness of AI at HSG are determined by well-classified content – and this is exactly where you come in.
Main activities: M365 Digital Product Owner & Information Protection (approx. 80%)
- M365 operation and further development: You are responsible for the roadmap, ensure training and support, administer functions for SharePoint, Teams, Purview, and other M365 services of the University of St.Gallen (HSG), and carefully document your solutions.
- Governance: You manage the lifecycle, permission model, and policies for Teams, Sites, and other M365 services.
- Purview and data classification: You implement and further develop Purview functions for Sensitivity Labels, DLP, retention, and auditing. You clean up permissions and external sharing and transition ongoing Purview expansion phases into stable operation.
Future focus: Providing content for AI (approx. 20%)
- Copilot and RAG readiness: You organise the information architecture in SharePoint so that Copilot and AI agents only access shared and correctly labelled content.
- Controlled release: You release content for Copilot and the University’s future AI gateway, the central control layer for access to AI services.
- Taxonomy: You contribute to the taxonomy of data classification and bring your knowledge into AI governance. Within 12 to 18 months, you will take responsibility for an independent area.
- M365 experience: Several years of experience in M365 administration, especially with the permission model of SharePoint.
- Purview practice: Practical experience with Sensitivity Labels and DLP – you configure yourself rather than just advise.
- Technical foundation: Confident knowledge of PowerShell and Microsoft Graph; certifications such as MS-102 or SC-401 are advantageous.
- Data protection understanding: You know the requirements of the DSG of the Canton of St.Gallen and think in protection need classes.
- Classification: Experience in developing classification or taxonomy concepts, for example for information architecture or records management, is an advantage.
- Communication skills: You communicate confidently in German (native or C1) and English and explain protection rules so that employees understand and support them.
- Agile working method: Familiarity with agile frameworks (SAFe, Kanban); experience with a Copilot rollout or with Entra ID and Conditional Access is a plus.
