The Zoo Basel, affectionately called "Zolli", is a green oasis in the middle of the city. In its unique park landscape, it houses over 600 animal species from all continents. Scientifically managed, it creates closeness between humans and animals, protects endangered species, and promotes biodiversity. Your Tasks
You ensure the optimal care, supervision, and breeding of aquaristic animals in the vivarium and can apply your versatile practical experience in the challenging keeping and breeding of fish and/or invertebrates. Daily inspection and maintenance of technical systems are also part of your varied duties. Furthermore, you may conduct tours with visitors and comment on animal presentations.
What You Bring
You have completed an apprenticeship in a manual profession, training as an animal keeper, or a comparable qualification. In-depth practical knowledge in aquaristics is also required. You are a team player with strong social skills. Even in hectic situations, you remain calm, work in a structured, very careful, and reliable manner. You are characterised by resilience, a quick grasp of new information, and a willingness to learn.
For this role, very good German language skills in speaking and writing are essential, as secure and precise communication in daily work is indispensable. Knowledge of English and/or French is an advantage.
Regular weekend shifts require your temporal flexibility and possibly residence in the Basel region.
