The Department of Justice and Reintegration (JuWe) is responsible for the execution of sentences and measures as part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich, as well as for the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of people who have committed crimes and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The Pöschwies Correctional Facility (JVA) is one of seven main departments of JuWe. The JVA Pöschwies is the largest closed correctional facility for men in Switzerland, with 399 places. It fulfills a central state task and is responsible for the resocialization of prisoners and the protection of the public according to legal mandates.
We are looking for a committed and team-oriented person as a Supervisor / Caregiver for our short-term detention facility, starting immediately or by agreement. This position is fixed-term until September 2026.

This is your area of responsibility
- You supervise, engage, and accompany inmates within the daily structures and act as a contact person for concerns
- You ensure an orderly daily routine, ensure compliance with and enforcement of safety and service regulations, and are able to recognize and manage critical situations
- Furthermore, you participate in leisure and group activities of the prisoners
- You take on administrative tasks such as writing reports and documenting events
This is what you bring
- You have completed vocational training with a federal certificate of competence, (specialized) maturity, vocational school diploma, or an equivalent qualification and ideally have professional experience in a similar caregiving role
- You have very good oral and written German skills and ideally knowledge of another language
- You are proficient in using the MS Office suite
- You are both mentally and physically resilient, and varying working hours (on-call and weekend shifts) are compatible with your other commitments
- You have a clean record (i.e., no entries in the criminal record or debt collection register) and are at least 25 years old
