Project Management Spatial Planning
The Department of Construction and Environment is responsible for urban development. The local planning revision is nearing completion. The aim is to communicate the set objectives externally, consistently demand them, and implement them. In the area of urban planning / environment / energy, land use plans and major urban development projects are initiated and managed. Solothurn is not only a cultural city but also an energy city and is committed to sustainable spatial and environmental planning.
Tasks
You lead demanding planning procedures from the basics through participation to approval, especially land use, development, and design plans. You accompany study commissions, competitions, and workshop procedures and work closely with external planners, building owners, and cantonal authorities. You draft proposals, statements, and participation reports for the political authorities. You support the head of urban planning / environment / energy in urban and environmental projects. You perform the secretarial function of the Commission for Planning and Environment as well as the Permanent Working Group on the Environment and represent the department’s business on their behalf. You are responsible for the communication of your projects, manage the urban planning content on the website, and the city’s digital participation tool. If necessary, you organise and supervise the department’s internship position.
Expectations
You are interested in urban planning as well as environmental and energy topics and hold a degree in spatial planning, architecture, landscape architecture, or geography. You bring relevant practical experience in urban planning, ideally in a municipal or cantonal environment, and are experienced in dealing with political bodies. Experience in construction and planning law and the environmental sector is an advantage. You work in a team-oriented, independent, responsible, and well-organised manner. You manage several procedures simultaneously without losing oversight. You are a communicative personality and command a confident style of German in spoken and written form; additionally, you have knowledge of image editing programmes and the use of digital participation and publication tools. Complex and exciting tasks are a welcome challenge for you. Confident dealings with authorities and private individuals complete your profile.
We offer
We offer you the opportunity to work in a versatile and very interesting working environment and to help shape the sustainable urban development of Solothurn. You can expect interesting development projects with visible impact, from the implementation of the local planning revision to the city’s major development areas, and an independent working style in a small team. Modern work tools, contemporary employment conditions, and interesting further training opportunities are a matter of course for us.
