Intern: Development of Test Stand Software (Python)

About the job

You will work 80-100% for 6 months in Zug and partially remote

• You will contribute to the development of a modular Python application for an industrial test stand and actively shape the software architecture and the interaction between hardware, process logic, and device configuration

• In implementation, you will control selected I/O hardware from National Instruments[CH2.1], integrate it into the test stand, process sensor data, and implement defined interfaces for communication with external hardware

• During implementation, you will develop executable process and sequence logic, define parameterisable process steps as well as states and transitions, and create an extendable structure for flexible definition of procedures

• A dedicated proof of concept gives you the chance to take responsibility and create visible results

• You will work with modern tools and methods such as Git and structured software development. You will be supported by an experienced team and have the opportunity to present your results and develop professionally

• You are studying (FH/Uni/ETH) computer science, electrical engineering, mechatronics, or a comparable field – ideally shortly before completing your bachelor’s degree or you have already obtained it

• You have good Python skills and have already gained initial experience in structured and object-oriented software development

• You are driven by an interest in hardware-near development, complemented by a basic understanding of measurement, control, or automation technology

• Initial contact with test systems, hardware control, or interfaces such as TCP/IP or serial communication is desirable

• You have already dealt with topics such as state machines, sequence logics, or automated testing or want to develop further in this direction

• You have very good German skills and can also communicate confidently in English
