About the job
The Thommen Group is creating a unique key position aimed at future senior executives. As an Operations Manager, you play a central role within one of our recycling sites in French-speaking Switzerland. Your workplace will depend on your home and will be located either at our Köniz (Thörishaus) site or in Givisiez (from 2027: Gibloux).
You ensure the interface between operations, logistics, administration, purchasing and site management. You analyse production processes, coordinate daily activities and develop processes in an efficient, pragmatic and sustainable manner.
You operate in an environment where recycling and responsible resource management are part of everyday life, and you put your experience to work on actions that have a concrete impact.
This position is deliberately designed as a development role: you will gradually be called upon to take on more responsibilities, with the clear objective of eventually holding a management position at one of our sites in French-speaking Switzerland.
- Participate in the operational development of the training site in French-speaking Switzerland and actively contribute to the improvement of processes, structures and working methods
- Analyse and optimise production processes to improve efficiency, quality and sustainability
- Plan and coordinate production activities to ensure smooth operations
- Work closely with site management, operations, logistics, administration and purchasing
- Take on responsibilities in cross-functional projects within the group
- Provide cover in certain key functions (e.g. site management, purchasing, administration)
- Participate in the budgeting process as well as investment planning
- Ensure and develop standards in occupational safety, environment and quality
- Participate in internal and external audits and ensure coordination with authorities
- Support the safety officer as well as the coordination of hazardous goods on organisational and operational aspects
- Completed technical vocational training
- Experience in customer and supplier follow-up is an asset
- Additional training in management, process management or quality management is an advantage
- Professional experience in a production or logistics environment, ideally in the recycling sector
- First management experience or strong motivation to progress to a management position
- Initiative and willingness to develop
- Knowledge in operational process management and/or use of performance indicators (KPI)
- Excellent organisational skills and good understanding of processes and human relations
- Excellent communication skills, team spirit and pragmatic ("hands-on") approach
- Ideally bilingual, with excellent command of French and German, both spoken and written
- With your work, you actively contribute to environmental protection and resource preservation
- Lots of freedom, autonomy and responsibility in your tasks
- Job stability and security
- Flat hierarchy and simple decision-making processes
- Family business culture: with us, you are not just a number
- Minimum 25 days holiday / 30 days from the 11th year of service or from age 50
- Thommen Academy (internal training and development opportunities for our employees)
- Good social benefits (salary continuation above average in case of accident and illness, pension fund without risk of loss)
