About the job
"For spaces to live in" – this promise applies to Rigips in a double sense. On the one hand, our interior construction systems are intended to help design interior spaces individually comfortable and aesthetically functional for every usage requirement. On the other hand, we aim to conserve resources, preserve natural habitats, and avoid further damage during the production, application, and dismantling of our plasterboards.
Plaster as a sustainable building material
Plaster is an ecologically and building-biologically ideal material: it is non-toxic, pH-neutral, and non-combustible. It absorbs excess moisture and heat from the room air and releases them again when needed. This creates a pleasant and healthy indoor climate. Additionally, the transport and processing of lightweight plaster systems consume less energy and water than solid construction. This further relieves the environment.

Careful extraction and energy-efficient production
The extraction of the domestic raw material plaster is carried out only according to officially approved plans and strict federal and cantonal regulations. The transport route from the raw material source to the production plant is short and environmentally friendly by rail. Modern kiln systems, operated with natural gas and green electricity, ensure energy-efficient production and reduced CO2 emissions. A high proportion of the raw material used consists of already recycled plaster (for example REA plaster or reprocessed plaster from our own RiCycling® plant in Granges).
Well-being and healthy living
Plaster has been valued for millennia as a versatile and natural building material – just like today’s innovative Alba® and Rigips® drywall systems. Whether in the office or at home: this modern and flexible construction method creates an environment that allows people to develop, be comfortable, and feel well. This includes a balanced indoor climate for a healthy living and working environment that does not impair well-being and health.
Naturally regulated indoor climate with plaster
The choice of the right building material for interior construction is crucial to ensuring a healthy indoor climate. From a building-biological perspective, five factors are decisive: temperature, humidity, electrical climate, quietness, and air. If these five aspects are considered and balanced during planning and construction, rooms remain free from disturbing environmental influences. Rigips plasterboards make a significant contribution to this.
RiCycling® for environment and sustainability
Because investors, builders, and planners want maximum flexibility, design freedom, and cost-effectiveness, modern plaster drywall construction is becoming increasingly important. It is all the more sensible to recycle the plaster waste generated during processing and increasingly during dismantling. With the unique RiCycling® concept, Rigips takes a pioneering role and sets standards for the entire industry.
Separate disposal and reprocessing as raw material
Offcuts of plasterboards as well as plaster base coats are collected by the RiCycling® partners of Rigips AG. In our RiCycling® plant, we then separate these wastes into the main components plaster and paper and return them to the respective production processes. The recovered plaster raw material is used 100% for the production of new Alba® solid plasterboards. This conserves resources, relieves the environment, and will also bring economic advantages for all involved in the future. Because the chemical properties of the plaster raw material allow multiple, theoretically infinite, processing and reuse.
RiCycling® partners and collection points near you
Would you like to dispose of plaster waste in an environmentally friendly way? Then contact our regional RiCycling® partners.
