As we continue to grow, we are looking for a <b>Manufacturing Engineer – Maintenance and Facility Control</b> who enjoys learning, collaborating, and contributing to something meaningful.</p><p></p><p><b>Your Role & Impact</b></p><p></p><p>In this role, you will help ensure that the <b>production equipment and facility systems</b> behind our life‑supporting medical devices operate safely, reliably, and compliantly. You’ll work closely with colleagues across Engineering, Quality, Production, and external partners in Switzerland and the US.</p><p>Your work directly contributes to our quality promise:<br /><b>“Built as intended for your family.”</b></p><p></p><p><b>What You’ll Do</b></p><ul><li><p>Take ownership of <b>maintenance and facility control processes</b>, supporting high equipment availability and reliability</p></li><li><p>Plan and implement <b>improvement activities</b> to strengthen compliant facility and utility operations</p></li><li><p>Act as <b>technical owner</b> for assigned equipment, utilities, or facility systems throughout their lifecycle</p></li><li><p>Manage <b>change control activities</b> in our PLM system (Windchill), including impact assessments and stakeholder training</p></li><li><p>Ensure <b>clear, accurate, and GMP‑compliant documentation</b> in our asset management system (Infor)</p></li><li><p>Plan and execute <b>qualification and validation activities</b> for equipment, facilities, and utilities</p></li><li><p>Investigate deviations, non‑conformances, or incidents in close collaboration with <b>Quality Engineering</b></p></li><li><p><b>Lead improvement</b> <b>initiatives</b> in area of responsibility or represent the department in large scale projects, e.g. in cooperation with Abbott sites in the US</p></li><li><p>Support internal and external <b>audits and inspections</b> as a subject‑matter expert</p></li><li><p>Ensure compliance with <b>GMP, EHS, Abbott standards, and regulatory requirements</b></p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>What We’re Looking For</b></p><p></p><p><b>Required</b></p><ul><li><p>Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in <b>Electrical or Mechanical Engineering</b> (ETH/FH or equivalent)</p></li><li><p><b>1–4 years</b> of relevant professional experience (early‑career profiles welcome)</p></li><li><p>A structured, reliable, and independent working style</p></li><li><p><b>Fluent English (C2)</b> and communicative <b>German</b></p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Nice to Have (Not Mandatory)</b></p><ul><li><p>Experience in <b>medical devices or other regulated industries</b> (ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR 820, GxP)</p></li><li><p>Exposure to <b>production support functions</b></p></li><li><p>Experience or interest in <b>qualification and validation activities</b></p></li></ul><p> </p><p><i>If you don’t meet all of these but feel excited about the role, we still encourage you to apply.</i></p><p></p><p><b>Why Join Abbott / Thoratec?</b></p><p>At Abbott, we believe people do their best work when they feel supported, valued, and able to grow.
