About the job
The Museum of the Canton of Glarus collects, preserves, researches, and conveys Glarus cultural heritage in a scientifically sound, audience-oriented manner. As an institution of the Freulerpalast Foundation, it presents the history of Glarus from its beginnings to the present day in its exhibitions and events, making visitors aware of the canton of Glarus as a historical, cultural, and artistic place.
We are looking for a
Scientific Assistant 30 %
from 1 July 2026 or by arrangement, based in Näfels.
Tasks
- Inventory of collection objects
- Archiving object-related documents, photographic documentation of objects
- Research in the collection, processing external enquiries
- Management of loan traffic: correspondence, drafting contracts
- Depot management: regular checks of stocks and climate
- Organisation and supervision of object transports
- Preliminary clarifications for acquisition of collection objects
- Scientific research for exhibitions: text, image, objects
- Preparation of exhibition texts, object and image captions
- Procurement of image reproductions and rights
- Object handling for exhibitions, clarifications of conservation conditions
- Presence and participation at events
Requirements
- Master's or Bachelor's degree in History, Art History or related disciplines
- Experience in museum work
- Independent, responsible personality with initiative
