Intern in Mother and Father Counselling 100%The Office for Youth and Career Counselling of the Education Directorate provides, commissions, manages and coordinates services for child and youth welfare and career counselling. The kjz Winterthur (Child and Youth Welfare Centre) is a polyvalent counselling centre for families, parents, adolescents, children and toddlers and operates on the basis of the Child and Youth Welfare Act of the Canton of Zurich.
The Mother and Father Counselling at kjz Winterthur offers a student of a Swiss University of Applied Sciences, specialising in midwifery, a training placement for 10 weeks starting September 27 (week 38).
What do we offer?
As part of the internship, you will gain insight into the following activities:
- Advising parents with infants and toddlers on physical and mental health issues (care, breastfeeding, nutrition, development, education and social matters)
- Recognising abnormalities or delays in physical and psychological development and supporting parents in the appropriate course of action
The consultations take place in various counselling centres in the city and district of Winterthur.
During the internship, you will take on various tasks such as:
- Initial telephone contact
- Administrative tasks
- Short consultations accompanied

- You are studying midwifery at a University of Applied Sciences and have already gained experience in a postnatal ward
- You have a strong interest in early childhood topics and want to deepen your expertise
- You want to expand your counselling skills
- You are interested in getting to know social institutions outside the hospital and networking
