Apprenticeship Description

As a polymechanic, you manufacture workpieces, produce tools and fixtures for production, or assemble devices, apparatuses, machines, or systems. In collaboration with other professionals, you process orders or projects, develop design solutions, create technical documents, or build prototypes and conduct tests. You participate in commissioning, planning and monitoring production processes, or perform maintenance work.

What you do
- Manufacture tools, fixtures, and aids for production or prototypes for development
- Produce mechanical workpieces on conventional drilling/milling and turning machines
- Program workpieces on modern computer-controlled machines
- Determine manufacturing steps based on design or production drawings and implement them in practice
- Inspect manufactured workpieces with precise measuring and testing instruments
- Perform pre- or final assembly on systems and machines as well as commissioning or maintenance work on the systems
- Collaborate on orders and projects with other professionals
- Develop design solutions and create technical documents
