Senior Physician in the Role of Deputy Head of Department

The Department of Paediatric Haematology and Oncology at the University Clinic for Paediatrics is part of the University Comprehensive Cancer Center Inselspital. The Centre for Paediatric and Adolescent Oncology provides care for patients with the full spectrum of haematological and oncological diseases, including autologous stem cell transplantation. In addition, patients with haemostaseological diseases are cared for as part of the European Haemophilia Comprehensive Care Centres. The department is a recognised training centre of category A.

What to expect

• Deputising for the head of department and co-responsibility for the medical, organisational and personnel management of the department
• Opportunity to establish your own research focus and to pursue academic further qualification (habilitation)
• Responsibility for efficient processes, quality development and coordination in clinical routine in close cooperation with the department management
• Care of inpatients and outpatients across the entire spectrum of paediatric oncology, haematology and haemostaseology
• Performing autologous stem cell transplants, involvement in the cellular therapies programme and evaluation of bone marrow and cerebrospinal fluid samples
• Participation in the medical on-call service
• Involvement in clinical studies and, if interested, participation in translational research within a young and motivated team

What you bring

• Specialist qualification in paediatrics with a focus on paediatric oncology and haematology (or equivalent qualification)
• Several years of clinical experience in paediatric haematology and oncology and stem cell transplantation
• Strong organisational skills, quality-oriented and motivated to actively develop complex clinical processes together in an interdisciplinary team
• Experience in leading teams, structures or clinical areas
• Interest in independent scientific work as well as very good German and English skills
• Participation in student teaching
• Relevant further training or specific experience, ideally in palliative medicine, pain therapy or haematological laboratory, is desirable
