Electrical Technician or Electrical Engineer (m/f/d)
The Institute of Chemical and Bioengineering Sciences (ICB) comprises 8 professorships and employs around 140 staff. Due to the upcoming retirement of the current electronics technician, we are looking for a head for our electronics workshop starting 1 November 2026 or by arrangement.
To support our cutting-edge research, the ICB has its own electronics workshop, which works closely with the researchers as well as the institute's own mechanical workshop.
Job Description
- As the sole person responsible for the electronics workshop, you coordinate the workflow and its priorities, build electrical systems, programme controls, repair existing systems and procure the necessary components.
- This includes manufacturing complete measurement and control systems from planning and procurement to assembly and testing of the systems.
- Furthermore, you advise and support institute members in handling equipment and electricity and collaborate in the planning of new research facilities.
Profile
- You have completed a professional apprenticeship (EFZ) or hold a degree as an electrical engineer (HTL, FH, BSc). Further training (HF) in electronics is an advantage.
- Additionally, you bring several years of broad and successful professional experience.
- You have proven experience with PLC programming as well as in the HMI area and are well acquainted with LabVIEW, Python and Node-RED.
- You are also capable of developing PCBs and writing the corresponding embedded firmware (e.g. C/C++).
- To be successful in this varied role, a high degree of independence, strong quality awareness, quick comprehension, high resilience, willingness to take responsibility, ability to prioritise and enjoyment in working with people from all over the world are key qualifications.
- Besides excellent German skills, you also have good knowledge of the English language.
