Your tasks:
The Jazz Institute is one of three institutes of the University of Music Basel FHNW and offers Bachelor and Master programmes in the field of Jazz. In this role, you are responsible for the technical support of the Jazz Institute's equipment at the University of Music Basel FHNW. Your tasks include in particular:
- Operation, maintenance, management and upkeep of the existing technical infrastructure at the Jazz Institute of the University of Music Basel with a focus on analogue and digital audio technology in studios, teaching and event rooms
- Planning, coordination and implementation of technical adjustments, optimisations and expansions of the studio, audio and event infrastructure, as well as the concert venues in close coordination with the institute management and the responsible lecturers
- Execution of technical conversions, modifications and special solutions in the studio area, e.g. renewal and rewiring of patchbays, soldering work, calibration and support of studio technology and the audio network, and much more
- Material management and distribution to students, as well as technical documentation of the studio and audio infrastructure
- Occasional technical support and assignments as a sound engineer at concert events, as well as the technical planning of all events
Your profile:
- Completed training, a relevant degree or another suitable qualification with demonstrable several years of professional experience in the fields of audio technology, studio technology, audio electronics, sound engineering or event technology
- Solid practical knowledge in analogue and digital audio technology as well as a pronounced technical affinity for professional studio infrastructure, signal routing and technical processes
- Practical experience in the repair (soldering technique and systematic fault finding), maintenance and servicing of studio equipment as well as the ability to carry out corresponding work independently, carefully and professionally
- Experience as a technician at live concerts or broadcasts
- Teamwork, reliability and resilience as well as the willingness to work responsibly and solution-oriented in a lively university environment
- Good oral English and German skills
- A varied and responsible role in a lively artistic university environment
- Scope for design in the technical further development of the studio and audio infrastructure of the Jazz Institute
