Apprentice Physics Laboratory Technician (Focus on Materials) (a)
For August 2027, we offer a challenging apprenticeship position in the Joining Technology and Corrosion department within a fascinating research environment.
Working at an ETH research institute brings a lot of variety to everyday professional life. The diverse and exciting tasks in an international environment guarantee young people interested in physics, materials, chemistry, technology, and electronics an exciting and varied apprenticeship.
Your core tasks include:
- You investigate the physical and chemical integrity of metallic materials and their components, as used for example in buildings, bridges, tunnels, production facilities, mechanical engineering, as well as energy, rail, and medical technology
- You determine material properties using state-of-the-art analytical methods and conduct physical measurements and test series with materials and systems
- You tinker with test setups, prepare experiments, carry them out, and document them
- You attend the Technical Vocational School Zurich
- Secondary school A with very good performance in scientific, mathematical, and language subjects
- Attendance at the BMS is supported
- Theoretical and practical interest in physics, chemistry, materials, electronics, as well as computer science and technical systems
- Abstract and analytical thinking, technical understanding, and manual dexterity
- Good powers of observation and comprehension, careful, independent, and reliable working
- Enjoyment of working in a highly technical and complex work environment
- Good manners in contact with customers and colleagues
- You are convinced to start your future with a vocational apprenticeship
