About the job
Assistant Public Prosecutor 80 - 100%The Public Prosecutor's Office II of the Canton of Zurich conducts criminal investigations against adults in the areas of organised crime and cybercrime as well as special investigations (including official offences, corruption, offences against the state).
We are looking for a motivated individual for our dedicated team at the Police and Justice Centre Zurich from 1 July 2026 or by arrangement as a legal assistant public prosecutor (80 - 100% – limited until 30.06.2029).
What to expect from us
The prosecution of organised crime presents law enforcement authorities with increasingly complex and technically demanding challenges. Proceedings are becoming more multifaceted, international and data-intensive – requiring new approaches and specialised support.
The public prosecutor's offices of the Canton of Zurich have created a new job profile in the legal mid-level, aimed at persons who are not seeking training as a public prosecutor but want to be directly involved in demanding proceedings in a support role.
In this exciting new role, you can support our public prosecutors in close teamwork from day one in managing their cases and work directly on complex cases of qualified narcotics and organised crime as well as money laundering (Department C).
Your tasks include, among others:
• Preparation of applications and orders for coercive measures (including covert surveillance measures)
• Preparation of indictment facts as well as other resolutions and pleadings
• Gathering evidence (in cooperation with the police) for interrogations or preparation of interrogations
• Drafting legal memos (e.g. for appeal proceedings)
• Drafting mutual legal assistance requests and correspondence with foreign authorities
This is a new job profile; therefore, candidacy with a view to obtaining the eligibility certificate for public prosecutors is not envisaged. The positions are limited within the framework of a pilot project.
How to convince us
Requirements for this activity are a completed law degree and relevant professional experience with good qualifications, preferably with law enforcement or judicial authorities or in legal practice. A lawyer's licence or similar professional additional qualifications are advantageous.
Flawless knowledge of criminal and criminal procedure law, confident German language skills in spoken and written form as well as good command of English are fundamental skills in our field. You also possess high self-motivation and work efficiently and purposefully, but with the necessary care. Furthermore, we expect integrity, discretion, resilience and pronounced teamwork skills.
What we offer you
Working in our team is an investment in your future and a unique experience: you are involved from the very first moment, benefiting from the experience and expertise of our public prosecutors. Your workplace is located in the Police and Justice Centre in Zurich. The employment conditions correspond to the cantonal guidelines. Classification is in salary grade 18.
