About the job
The opportunity
High-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission is a safe and efficient technology designed to deliver large amounts of electricity over long distances. The HVDC market is growing rapidly and has become an important part of many transmission networks, not least because it can connect remote sources of electrical power – often emissions-free renewable sources like hydro or wind generation – to load centers where it is needed, hundreds or even thousands of kilometers away. Therefore, the reliable operation of these stations would be vital which is the main focus of this project. The Semiconductor Packaging and Reliability Engineering research team at the Central European Hitachi Energy Research Center is looking for an intern with reliability engineering experience to contribute to our reliability models initiatives. You will interact with a dynamic and multidisciplinary team that will supervise and guide the project. If you possess a strong technical background, love diving into new challenges, and are looking for an exciting 6 - 12 months internship, join us to help build a more reliable and sustainable energy future.
How you'll make an impact
-
Assist in developing and applying novel statistical and mathematical models for reliability analysis
-
Developing stochastic reliability models for components in HVDC Stations
-
Developing the Reliability Block Diagram (RBDs) in Reliability software
-
Document and communicate solutions developed to ensure knowledge transfer within the research team, academic collaborators, and relevant business units
Your background
-
Currently pursuing a M.Sc. degree in reliability engineering, electrical engineering, power engineering, physics, applied mathematics, mechanical engineering or a related discipline (official enrolment is essential)
-
Solid understanding of AC power component, or DC component like convertor, cooling system, etc.
-
Familiarity with reliability engineering, statistics is beneficial
-
Fluency in written and spoken English
-
Good communication and technical writing skills
-
Good cooperation skills, creativity, and the ability to work independently
